Rachel and Andy chose the most perfect day for their August wedding at the charmingly rustic stone and thatched Tythe Barn in Bicester, Oxfordshire. The sun shone, the air was fresh and their hopes for an outside ceremony under the wisteria pergola weren't dampened by the heavy downpour the day before.
When we first met for our consultation over a nice cup of tea, Rachel explained how she was relaxed and open to ideas on the flower varieties she wanted for her day but wanted the colour palette to be bright, bold and smokin' hot! Here at The Country Flower Company, we are open to any ideas when it comes to floral fancies so we were excited by the chosen contemporary 'clashing' scheme of hot pinks, corals and oranges and to add even more contrast, Rachel wanted this vibrant eclectic combo in a classic tied shower bouquet.
We chose Miss Piggy roses, Piano Freil roses, burnt orange cala lilies, leucospermum, peachy-pink vanda orchids, veronica, dahlias and hot pink astilbe to create a heavily textured bouquet with pops of tropical blooms amongst English grown roses and foliages from our floristry paddock.
For her bridesmaids handtied posies, we included similar blooms to Rachel's bouquet in the same delicious colours but kept them simple and somewhat structured so they complimented their gorgeous coral dresses.
Music is Rachel's passion and vocation so we wanted to include these important aspects of her life in the flowers. The bouquets were tied with ivory satin with an overlapping band of musical note ribbon. Andy's buttonhole was also tied with musical note ribbon and finished off with Rachel's thoughtful touch of a silver Tottenham Hotspur pin - a surprise he was over the moon with on the day.
The informality of the barn perfectly suited the generous scattering of jam jar posies and enamel jugs filled with orange dahlias, pink piano roses, billy bobs, sunflowers and scented stocks across the tables and every nook and cranny hosted a jam jar or two with the added flicker of candlelight.
We loved the creative process of Rachel and Andy's wedding from start to finish and hope you've been inspired by their bold and vibrant florals. Perhaps a welcome reminder of those hot summer days not long gone by.
