It's getting to that time of year when all we want to do is wear chunky knits, tan leather boots and drink red wine after a long walk in the countryside and back in the workshop, all we want to make is rich, textured and velvety arrangements in heavy, muted containers.
At The Country Flower Company, we love a Summer wedding and all the beautiful pastel blooms that go with it but we look to Autumn with just as much excitement and anticipation of what the season will bring as we do with the warmer months.
This year, our focus has been on the hedgerows in our village and what is growing in our paddock and wild in the surrounding fields. It also seems that one colour in particular is filling our hearts with cosy warmth...raspberry.
It's not just the flowers that excite us either, it's the blackcurrant viburnum berries, plum toned hypericum, pearl-pink snowberries, damsons and black grapes. For the complimenting foliage, we are using cortinus, royal leaf, purple cordilyne and senecio like it's going out of fashion!
Towards the end of this month and throughout October, we'll be sharing our ideas on autumnal florals and I'm sure the more classic burnt oranges, earthy browns and burgundies will feature in all their flamin' golden glory but for now, we hope you feel inspired by an alternative hue to the warming gorgeousness of Autumn.
